Country fun

 Out here in the country we know how to have fun.

On home made teeter totters.

In hand me down hats.

Running in freshly cut hay fields.

By trying to keep up with your brother.

 Exploring the woods and finding animal foot prints.

Inspecting rocks.

 Befriending Killing a spider

 Holding poor dead spider in hopes that it may miraculously come back to life.

 Burying poor dead spider.

 Watching the big boy chase more spiders.

Finding spider a large tomb stone.

 Using rocks as make believe cell phones.

 Wearing your brother's hats.

Making lasting friendships.

Pumpkin

We discovered a new pumpkin patch this year and it's really nice.

Wes  had loads of fun picking out "purfic" pumpkins for everyone in our family.

There was sled like things that we used to pull our pumpkins in.  Wes being the big helper that he is, wanted to pull it all by himself, but due to the rain storm we had the day before there was too much mud which made it too hard.  He tried his hardest though!

Felicity enjoyed the patch very much and tried to teeth on pumpkins when I was not looking.  I am SO looking forward to her getting in that last tooth!

Felicity is wearing a sweater that belonged to my youngest sister Jill aka Bean.  I love that my kids can wear clothes that belonged to other people in our family and friends.  I remember my sister wearing that sweater and she had a cute little piggy tail just like Felicity's too back then.  Hand me down clothes have memories with them and I really like that. 

We arrived just after they opened so we had the whole place to our selves.  It was nice.  Wes is in love with goats and asked if we could "Pleeeeeease" take this little guy home.  

The little pumpkin patch is nestled perfectly near the top of a hill so there was a great views.  Minus the port-a-pottys that are nearly directly in the center of this photo.  I think it is a pretty good shot. 

Wes loved the ducks and commented that they were "just like Tom and Donna but dead".  The ducks were fake.  He loved them either way and kept wanting to go back to the pond to watch them "swim".

After walking around picking pumpkins, running threw the hay maze, playing with the animals and watching ducks we were ready to rest for a couple minutes.   It was the perfect time to go for a hay ride to the corn maze!   Wes found this hat on the wagon and wore it.   Yeah I know, germs; but Wes assured me they were too little to hurt him.

The ride took us even farther up the hill and the views just kept getting better.

Matt was working for his parents so even though  it was a Saturday, it was just the me and the kids.  I get to spend so much time with them like this.  Sometimes I feel guilty that Matt usually only gets to see them when they are hungry tired and ready for bed.  Hopefully this weekend he will be able to take some time off while we have Wes' 4th Birthday party!

We left the pumpkin patch ready for lunch and naps.  It was a great Saturday.

Apple Picking

As I  have already stated and will probably continue to state, I love fall.  What is more fallish (I know fallish is not a word  but it was the only one I could think of) than picking apples?  Carving a pumpkin maybe, but that will come in time too.  Right now I am just enjoying my apples.

We were the only people picking apples so I just let the kids do what they wanted.  Wes took full control of the picking pole.

I kept having flash backs from last year.  Felicity was just starting to crawl around and this year she is eating apples and running after her brother!  Time sure flies.   It's pretty amazing that I have been blogging enough to say "last year" and actually have a post to link back to, too!

I think we ate enough apples to keep the doctor away for quiet some time.

While picking A aaa apples.  Wes and I sang ABC's talked about what the purpose of leaves are and how we make apple sauce.  I think it is safe to say that today was our first field trip and I am sure there will many more to follow.

After we had picked a bushel of Ida Red apples, I wanted to get a few nice shots of the kids together.

The background of this beautiful old quiet apple orchard was just too much for me to pass up.

And her handsome brother and you have a perfect photo session.  Right?!

Ummm...No.  Do  you see the pout forming on my darling's face?  Yeah it's kind of hard to miss.  She was not feeling it.  

Not-At-All!

Oh well, I guess that just means we will have to go back again. 

Fall colors

I LOVE fall!  It is by far my favorite season and seems to last the least amount of time.  This year the colors are changing faster than other recent years and I trying to soak in every marvelous color.  This weekend we all went for a drive to look at a stump grinding job that Matt had to do.  I was not sure I wanted to go but man I'm I glad that I did!

These are the types of road that we drove around on for over an hour.  We were in heaven!

After we veiwed Matt's stump grinding job we went exploring and found this lovely pond.  I am imagining picnics and pictures here in our very near future.

While walking around the lake I twisted my ankle and since I was holding Wesley's hand took him for quite a ride.  Poor little guy face planted in a ditch as I twisted and landed next to him.  I look of his face was so distraught I could not help but laugh.  He however did not think it was funny at all and kept asking why I "helped" him fall.

I thought this tomb stone was pretty neat.  "Gone Home"  how appropriate.  There was a small cemetary totally over grown and forgotten on one of the dirt road we traveled on.

There were a couple areas that had been recently logged off,  I was sad to see all the beautiful old trees gone but the view was spectacular.

Next in our venturing was an old covered bridge, that Matt and I have been meaning to stop at for years.

I'm glad we finally stopped.  I would have been able to get a better photo but there was a couple have a wine and cheese date right in front and they were really "getting to know each other"  if you know what I mean.   That being said I did my best to show the natural beauty of this place and not get them in it at all!

Matt and I were enjoying ourselves so much that we decided to enlist Kirstie to watch the kids and we went back out on his bike to get some photos we would not be able to get in a car.  

I'm not a motorcycle lover.  I don't have a problem with other people riding them but there is something so unnerving about flying down the road with only a helmet for protection.  I kept thinking about what would happen to my babies if something you know "happened" to me.  Ugh not fun.

Finally I gave it to God and just hugged Matt close and enjoyed the ride.

His bike is an on and off road bike so we were able to drive into fields and path ways to get the to creek beds to get some neat photos.  When we got to this spot there was a Bald Eagle flying away from a near by  tree.  We were both super excited to see that!  By the time I got my camera out of my backpack it was settled in a tree.  It did take off and fly past again when we were leaving but once again I did not get a photo.  But believe me it was neat!

I love New York in the fall, just love it!

The sun soon began to set and we had to start heading home.  It was a much cooler ride home and my hands nearly lost their feeling.  Next time I will bring gloves.  I was so glad that I went for a ride with Matt.  He loves to take me on dates on his bike but I rarely go and my rarely I mean, this was only our second ever.  I just may let if become a more frequent get away for the two of us.

 There is just something to beautiful about fall around here.  Scratch that, everything is so beautiful in the fall.  Have I mentioned how much I love fall?  Well I do!
