Fishing...Part One

Fishing is something that I never thought that I would enjoy.  I never went fishing as a child so when Matt and I were dating and he suggested we go fishing  in his parents pond I was leery.  All I could think of was sitting is an old boat, getting eaten alive by mosquitoes, smelly fish, icky worms and not talking.  Not exactly my cup of tea.

I was wrong.  There was no boat or worms and lots of fun.  We did not kill them which made me happy because I was NOT going to clean them!  We just caught and released.   It was fun.

So this weekend when Matt suggested we take the kids I got excited.  Wes was going to love it!

I was also excited to try out a lens on my camera that I rarely ever use.  It is a Nikon AF Nikkor 80-200mm 1:4:5-5:6 D.  Which basically means it is a zoom that does not auto focus on my camera body.   I was surprised however, how little time it took to manually focus it.  I loved it!  I will definitely be using this lens more often!

Matt drove one of his antique tractors and mower over to clean up the pond so we did not have to stand in tall grass.  He loves this pond and dreamed of building a cabin out there.  He has many fond memories here from when he was growing up.

It appears that Wesley is just like his Daddy and loves the pond as well.  He played in the edge of the water while Matt mowed and brought buckets of water up to show his little sister.  They played in the water together while Matt got the fishing pole ready.

This fishing trip was such a blessing!  We really needed some great family time.  Time to bond.  Time to relax.  It was great.

Seeing Matt and Wesley enjoying each other's company and getting along so well made my heart sing.  These two love each other to the moon and back but Matt's patience with Wes is short and Wes needs a lot of patience.  There was not one unhappy moment the whole day.  It was beautiful!

I was the happiest and most proud Mommy ever.  I just love my family!

There is more to share and I will later but right now I am off to go feed the chickens and take my little buddy for a four wheeler ride.

These are some great photos! I especially love the one of your hubby holding the fish, and the one of your son with his hand in daddy's pocket.
