We had two Thanksgivings with year, one in
Matt’s parents made the trip down as well which was very nice because they very rarely leave our small home town. Also joining us were two other military couples who work with Michael, who is a marine and works on the President’s helicopters.
Dinner was very yummy, complete with sweet potato casserole, green bean casserole, home made cranberry relish, mashed squash, canned cranberry sauce, stove top stuffing, and rolls. For dessert there was strawberry salad, shoofly pie, apple pie and my favorite pumpkin cheesecake.
After dinner we all enjoyed each other and getting caught up on everyone’s lives. Kelly and I snuck out with Wes, while Felicity was napping and went to a near by park to help Wes burn off some energy. It was nice to have some one on one time with Kelly.
Once Felicity woke up from her very long but much needed nap, she discovered the fish tank and boy did she LOVE it! Wes on the other hand was scared of the bubble making skeleton that popped out of a coffin.
Mike and Kelly gave us our Christmas presents because we won’t be seeing them again till after Christmas. They gave Wes the ultimate present, his very own digital camera! He is totally in love with it!! So much so that before we left he had taken well over 100 photos and by the time we arrived back in PA the batteries were dead. He is in love and I think we might have another photographer in the making.
Back in
Saturday morning Thanksgiving preparations were in full swing again. This time we had, baked turkey, green bean casserole, carrots, cranberry sauce, home made stuffing, candied yams, mashed potatoes, and gravy. It was scrumptious and oh so filling.
For dessert there was cheesecake, crumble topped apple pie, sour cream apple pie, pumpkin pie, pistachio salad, pecan pie and fresh whipped cream. Felicity absolutely LOVED the whipped cream!
We all hung out after with our belts loosened and bellies bulging. Wes and I snapped photos while Jill read, Nate and Angie snuggled, Felicity napped, and everyone else cleaned up. Later we played pass the pigs and psychiatrist. The games were a perfect way to end a deliciously relaxing day.
We left for home early the next morning with a cooler full of leftovers. The trip home was very good and both kids were very happy and played the whole way home!
